SA's 3 most expensive homes are in Cape Town
Cape Town boasts the three most expensive homes on the market in the country.
# Those with R110 million in the bank can buy Africa's most expensive residence - a penthouse suite at hotel magnate Sol Kerzner's One and Only Hotel at the V&A Waterfront.
Besides a private lift to the penthouse, residents have every hotel facility available to them, as well as a 300m2 roof- top garden with swimming pool, pagoda, entertainment area, music and media room, a study and under-floor heating, according to The Property Magazine.
# The second most expensive house in South Africa is a five-bedroom Clifton house designed by architect Stefan Antoni that boasts a post box on the sought-after Nettleton Road. The home will set buyers back R90m.
Those who can afford the price tag will have views, over-sized open-plan entertainment areas with rim-flow pool, a bar and games room, cinema, gym, staff accommodation, plus three garages and three off-street parking bays.
# A Bantry Bay four-bedroom, five-bathroom home with an erf size of 1 482m2 is the third most costly house at R71m. The multi-level home offers two family rooms, a private cinema, several balconies, a dining deck, solar heated pool, a steam room, gym and five parking bays.
According to research done by property data services provider Lightstone, the Western Cape has landed 10 of 20 spots in a list of the country's richest suburbs and areas.
The Atlantic Seaboard, with well-known luxury spot Clifton, and Steenberg Estate, a golf estate in Tokai, topped the list. Other areas in the province on the list include Llandudno, Bishops Court, Constantia, Camps Bay, Fresnaye, Swanswyk Road in Tokai, Pezula Private Estate in Knysna and Fancourt in George.
