Cape Town's next MyCiTi stage delayed
The start of the MyCiTi bus service to Salt River, Woodstock and Walmer Estate has been delayed for two months as the city awaits approval of vehicle operating licences for 30 new buses.
City spokeswoman Kylie Hatton said the city had not yet received permits from the Provincial Operating Licensing Board for vehicle operating companies to operate a fleet of 30 newbuses that were also scheduled to run on the city centre and Table View routes. Due to administrative problems, hearings for these licence applications have been moved to December.
"This delay will not affect the existing MyCiTi services. The City of Cape Town apologises to residents who may be inconvenienced by this delay," Hatton said.
