Joburg City Parks wants you to cut own grass
Joburg residents are being asked to comment on a proposal by Joburg City Parks suggesting that residents cut the grass on their own verges.
City Parks says it will continue to ensure that main roads, key intersections and public amenities are maintained. The aim, says Bryne Maduka, acting managing director of City Parks, is to provide equitable services to all residents, as many people in poorer communities do not have grassed pavements.
But DA councillor Linus Muller says this is "a feeble attempt to cut down on expenditure in the city and comes at the cost of increased rates and taxes and a decrease in service delivery".
Residents are invited to comment on this and any other issue that concerns City Parks by e-mailing jcp-AT-jhbcityparks-DOT-com or contact it on or find it on Twitter @Joburgparks or on Facebook at Joburgparks.
