FF+ wants rubbish discount in Pretoria

The FF Plus in Tshwane on Wednesday demanded three months' discount on residents' rates bills for waste not having been removed.

"After talks with the Pretoria Taxpayers Association, the FF Plus in Pretoria will join an official dispute that is currently prepared," the party's councillor in the Tshwane metro council, Conrad Beyers, said in a statement.

"In the dispute the demand for the discount is made due to the non-delivery of services for which taxpayers paid."

Waste was not removed in the Tshwane metro area this week due to a workers' strike.

Beyers said there had been several serious problems last year, the last of which took place around Christmas Day.

"In 2009 there were at least five serious problems with waste removal. The year 2010 is not even one week old and there are new problems.

"During the last six cuts in waste removal the ANC had six different excuses for the problem. This last time they blamed labour brokers.

Blame everyuthing on labour Brokers. They have now become the scape goat cou ntry wide.. In Cape as well. Half the councils in the country are not able to pay for servers but you must still pay for them (see ESKOM owed BILLIANS). This they cannot blame on labour brokers. What a bunch of wankers....

I'm staying in the Chantelle area, and for the last 3 weeks already, no waste bins was cleaned. It's pathetic that we have pay for waste removal and this is the service that we get from Tshwane City Coucil.

I agree with the FF+, no service delivery no pay, just as much as Tshwane says no payment no electricity. Why should this be different when the fault is on their shoulders.Well Tshwane a refund is demanded. We do not need excuses we want solutions.

lol! imagine if tshwane did not get 3 months rates for non-delivery of services? hehe, it might just work you know, 'cos next time the workers want to go on strike they'll tell them where to get off (or run to the labour brokers to get them more street sweepers); yup, i think i would work extremely well - no delivery, no pay - now if that won't motivate those political fat cats to do something about service delivery i'm not sure that anything will...

Its about time that the people who pay for these services & don't get them, should have their money paid back to them! I've been saying this for years & it mustn't stop there, it must go to the TV too, we have power cuts & can't watch TV which we've paid for....give us a refund! As I watch very little TV & when a movie comes on we have something going wrong with the TV station or Electricity..... I want my money back I'm fed up with being fobbed off with rubbish (of the TV type).

The situation is simply unaccepatble. How many times do we have to endure this? And every time the council takes money from us for refuse collection... but it won't pay for workers who are on strike. They GAIN financially every time there's a strike! Perverse. And what about our parks too? Our local park hasn't been cut for at least three weeks now!

So many (empty) promises made their way the past weekend towards the media.... and our sidewalks look like mini-dumping sites with all the rubbish piling up. During a previous strike we made a light hearted joke and said the stries will come to an end the day when every citizen found a way to transport a full wheelie bin or 2 to the dumping site and empty it self and return it then back home. And no, we don't transport our wheelie-bin to the dump because it is a matter of principle. We pay the City of Tshwane for rubbish removal. It is their responsibility. Finish and klaar. By the way, did anyone notice the healthy state of the gogga breeding in our bins while it stay day after day in the sun.
