Fan Walk for Manchester United Game in Cape Town
WorldCup fever is set to reignite in Cape Town when the Fan Walk is opened for the biggest sporting event since 2010.
The Fan Walk will be opened for the Manchester United game.
The City of Cape Town's mayoral committee member for tourism, events and marketing, Grant Pascoe, confirmed today that Manchester United would play at Cape Town Stadium on July 21 - with all the bells and whistles including the Fan Walk and the opening of all three stadium tiers.
"Man United asked us if we could please replicate the atmosphere of the World Cup. They said they wanted that feeling," Pascoe said.
The full transport network, as enjoyed by fans during the World Cup, would also be activated.
Pascoe was on his way to Joburg this morning for the official announcement. Tickets will go on sale soon. The team's visit to Cape Town would be a flying one - they would arrive 36 hours before the game, and leave soon after for China.
For the MTN Football Invitational Sir Alex Ferguson's men will face AmaZulu or Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on July 18 and Ajax Cape Town three days later in the Mother City as they prepare for next season.
The Red Devils have announced the signing of Nick Powell, joining on a four-year deal. The under-18 international is considered one of England's hottest prospects.
Kick-off will be at 8pm in Durban and 3pm in Cape Town. A Man U training session will be open to the public, and tickets range from R150 to R350 at Computicket.
