Durban Point harbour saga continues
The Save Vetch's Association has threatened to go to court to stop all construction on the proposed Durban Point small-craft harbour unless the developers can prove a legal right to develop land below the high water mark.
In a letter to the Durban Point Development Company last week, the association's attorneys asked company representative Neels Brink to clarify the legal basis it relied on to develop a major sea wall stretching from the base of Vetch's Pier to the base of the new North Pier.
The association, represented by Cox Yeats attorney Michael Jackson, said unless there was clarity before the weekend, he had been instructed to launch interdict proceedings to prevent any construction work on the sea wall, which fell below the high water mark.
