Cape Town to seek info on Intersite upgrade plan

The Cape Town mayoral committee wants more details about a multi-billion rand city makeover proposed by Intersite, the property arm of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, before it commits itself to the project.

Mayco said it first wanted answers on the city's role and involvement in the project, as well as the financial impact the project would have on the city purse.

"We can't agree to the recommendations on the table... We don't have sufficient information," said Felicity Purchase, mayco member for economic development and tourism.

The committee would get an update report in May, addressing issues raised at the meeting.
