Building confidence falls
Building confidence took a knock in the second quarter, according to FNB's Building Confidence Index (BCI) yesterday.
The index dropped from a value of 30 in the first quarter to 24 in the second quarter, FNB said. Of the six sub-components of the BCI, five registered a drop and in only one case a marginal increase was recorded.
Compared with the first quarter, the declines took place in quantity surveyors (minus 2), building contractors (minus 6), sub-contractors (minus 2), manufacturers of building materials (minus 2), and retailers of building material (minus 24).
In the case of architects, a small rise (plus 1) was recorded.
