The simple reason to have your listings on IOLProperty is exposure, and great exposure at that. There is only one statistic that is really important when judging the effectiveness of marketing your listing on a property website - click thru's i.e. the number of times users click to view the details about your property listing. Every month, the IOLProperty network sends through about 300 000 click-thrus to listings on the IOLProperty database.
 
And how do we ensure the listings get this exposure - Independent Newspaper's huge marketing footprint.
IOLProperty is marketed:

• Across Independent Online's (www.iol.co.za) network, reaching over 2 000 000 users every month
• In all of Independent's newspaper publications such as the Star, Cape Argus, Cape Times, Mercury, Daily News, Pretoria News etc.
• Independent's Community Newspapers (with a combined distribution of over 500 000)
• Billboards via Independent Outdoor Media
• In Independent's property print publications ( The Star Property Guide, The Sunday Tribune Property Guide )
• Across all Property Trader magazines - totalling 500 000 copies a month

We thought it would be useful to put a Rand value to all that advertising, so we executed a test run of print advertising in August 2008 and tracked all the adverts that were placed. In 2 weeks, the total value of those print adverts exceeded R 1,700,000 (see our bill to the right)!
 
Lastly it should require no effort on your part to update your listings on IOLProperty. Your listings will be sourced via our partner, Gravity, which uses search engine technology to automatically update listings from your website via either a webcrawler or an API/interface.

Since Gravity will source your listings data, the requirements are the same as those for Gravity.
Most importantly:

1. You must have a website with a database where your listings are stored, and
2. In order to avoid duplication of listings, listings are sourced from one website only. It must therefore be the main or national website for the franchise.

There is no charge to display listings sourced from Gravity on IOLProperty. Note that Gravity may, at their discretion, charge a setup fee depending on how your listings are updated. The standard route, via an API/interface, is however free.
IOLProperty will offer an optional value-added service later this year which will be fee-based.
